Complements The secrets to healthy, fall skin

09/23/15

Fall is quickly approaching, and I’m already starting to see the leaves change colors. This comes close to tying with summer for one of my favorite times of the year. I love the weather, the fall festivals and pumpkin everything (coffee, desserts, lotions and did I mention our pumpkin facial mask in the office?) As the weather and seasons change, so should your skincare routine. You don’t have to spend a lot of money; just a few minor changes and you’re good to go!

Cooler fall air and the start of a dry season can take their toll on your skin. Tiny lines and wrinkles show up from the lack of moisture, and pigmentation spots from the aftermath of the summer sun force their way to the surface. Not only is it a great time to switch up your products, it’s a perfect time to start peeling away those pigmentation spots with in-office aesthetic services.

It’s definitely typical for your skin to dry out a little more in the fall and winter, so change up your moisturizer. Add in a slightly thicker moisturizer to make up for the moisture we are going to miss from the summer. You can also switch to a rich, moisturizing eye cream to plump and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. Your entire body needs more hydration, not just your face!

Introduce an exfoliator to slough off those flaky, dry skin cells. If you really want your products to work, you need to get rid of the dead skin cell layers just resting on the skin’s surface. But be careful not to over exfoliate; two to three times per week is all that is needed.

Most importantly, continue to use your sunscreen now and all year round. Listen to your skin. The amount of moisture and exfoliator that you need will vary daily due to the weather, stress, hormones, diet, etc. Fall back in love with your skin!
