It is that time of year, where cold weather and dry heated indoor settings take their toll on your lips' sensitive skin. This change in climate and chilling winds can result in dry, chapped lips.

Our lips have a skin barrier that starts to break down with the winter season's harsh elements. It is important to prevent the loss of moisture and protect the lip skin barrier. Here are a few tips to keep your lips healthy during the winter months:

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated
  • Try not to lick your lips-this lets the moisture out, creating cracked, dry lips
  • Do not pick or bite your lips
  • Exfoliate your lips with a wet toothbrush, a wet washcloth, or a sugar scrub
  • Use a lip balm, especially before bed

These tips will help keep your lips soft and smooth all winter long.

I can help you create a skincare routine to address dry skin and lips to help you look and feel your best. You can schedule a consultation with me by calling 814.231.7878.
