Complements Physician-grade products vs over-the-counter products
When you step into a plastic surgeon’s or dermatologist’s office or even a medi-spa, you may notice skin care products and brands you have never seen before. These products are physician-strength and can only be sold to physicians.
Generally, brands that are sold in drugstores and department stores contain lower amounts of active ingredients than those sold in doctors’ offices. Physician offices can carry the higher-concentrated products because they can be overseen by the physician. For example, vitamin C and retinol products contain a higher percentage than those over-the-counter.
Physician-grade products can go deeper into the layers of the skin rather than just working on the outer layer. Over-the-counter products can only work on the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. Products sold by physicians can go as deep as where new cells are produced, and collagen and elastin are contained, thereby showing more results. By repairing the skin at deeper layers, the skin can be transformed.
Over-the-counter skin care products temporarily change the look of the skin; physician-strength products have an actual biological effect on the skin, in order to achieve the goal of improving the health and appearance of your skin.
Physician-strength skin care products should only be purchased from the office or from the skin care company’s website. Purchasing from another site can be taking risks. The products may be completely fake, expired or ineffective. People may think they are saving money by buying their products online; however, consider the risks and the waste of money if the product is simply ineffective.
These products are part of a medical treatment plan for your skin that should be directed by a trained professional. Just like you don’t want to buy skin care products from a kiosk in the mall, you don’t want to buy products from an illegal source, with no direction from a physician. Your skin health should be taken very seriously, and this method of purchase is not.
There are so many benefits to seeing a professional in a medical setting for your skin care needs. In the long run, you will be saving money by not purchasing product after product over-the–counter, trying to get an effective result, when you can buy just one at a physician’s office that will do the job the first time.
