Spring is here with its longer days, more sun and increasing temperatures. You may be purging winter wear from closets, planning vacations and gearing up for spring cleaning. It’s the perfect time to review, refresh and update your skin care in preparation for summer fun.

Check your skin care products for expiration dates. It is important to ensure that active ingredients are viable and the product is working as intended. Generally, manufactures formulate products to last one year after opening. It is imperative to check expiration dates for your sunscreen. The chemicals which protect skin break down over time, making the sunblock less potent. Be sure to throw out expired and old products.

Clean your makeup brushes and facial tools. Makeup piles up on brushes, making the bristles stiff and harsh on the skin. Additionally, brushes naturally accumulate bacteria and dirt from the environment around them. Regular cleaning helps maintain hygiene and brush quality.

Stay hydrated. Being well hydrated is essential to healthy and beautiful skin. Drinking more water is especially key during the warm summer months.

Lighten up your moisturizer. Typically during the summer, your skin does not need a heavy moisturizer since your skin is producing more oil. Lighter moisturizers are best for summer skin care.
