A smooth gel, Juvéderm is injected under the skin to restore volume and smooth wrinkles like smile lines in a safe, simple and quick procedure.

Juvéderm is made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that keeps it hydrated. As we age, our skin begins to lose its concentration of hyaluronic acid, which contributes to formation of wrinkles and folds.

A treatment takes less than half an hour from start to finish, and requires almost no recovery period. It's an excellent option for busy lifestyles. After administering topical anesthesia, Dr. Peterson simply injects the gel into problems areas using a fine needle. Juvéderm has a smooth consistency, and flows easily into the skin during the injection process. This results in a smooth, natural look and feel not possible with other hyaluronic acid fillers that are made with a granular consistency.

Most patients require only a singular treatment to achieve the results they are looking for, and each treatment can help smooth lines and wrinkles for up to one year. If wrinkles begin to return, simple touch-up injections or repeat injections can help preserve results.

Though there are risks and possible side effects with Juvéderm, it has proven to be a safe option for those interested in non-surgical wrinkle reduction. Before administering your first treatment, Dr. Peterson will explain the process in greater detail and discuss the risks and possible side effects.
