Just in time for summer, Mount Nittany Physician Group Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery is offering Asclera® for the treatment of unsightly spider and reticular veins on the legs. Spider and reticular veins are caused by factors such as genetics, age, gender, pregnancy, body weight and prolonged sitting or standing. Asclera, also known as sclerotherapy, is an FDA-approved medicine (polidocanol) that treats these veins through simple injections.

The medicine works by damaging the lining of the treated vein so that over time, the vein is replaced with healthy tissue. The treatment is minimally invasive and typically takes between 15 to 45 minutes. After the procedure, patients will need to wear compression socks for a short period of time and will be encouraged to walk. Results can be seen as early as two weeks following the first procedure, and will continue to improve over the next three months.

So, how do you get started? First, you will have a consultation with me. Certified in Asclera injection, I will evaluate your veins and provide a detailed treatment plan based upon your individual needs. At your consultation, you will learn about the procedure and what to expect following your treatment. I will also provide the cost of treatment, which will be tailored to fit each patient’s individual treatment plan. A cosmetic consultation costs patient’s $75, but this payment will go towards your Asclera treatment cost.

For more information and to schedule your consultation, call 814.231.7878, or visit cosmetic.mountnittany.org/procedures/asclera/.
