Complements Bad skincare habits you should kick

Good skincare and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay the natural aging process. The following bad habits are essential to kick in order to care for your skin and have a radiant complexion all year long.

Wearing makeup to bed. I’ve said this before: going to bed with your makeup on is a big no-no. If you don’t wash off your makeup and the dirt that gets on your skin throughout the day, it can clog oil glands, make pores appear larger than they are and cause breakouts.

Picking at your skin. Using your fingers rather than proper tools can create more lesions and permanently enlarge pores. You are also at risk for secondary hyperpigmentation because of not correctly extracting from a proper angle. However tempting it may be to pop that pesky pimple, try to resist!

Only wearing sunscreen in summer. I highly recommend wearing sunscreen all year round. The sun’s rays can still penetrate through clouds, even in the winter months. To keep skin free from brown spots and aging wrinkles, use a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher each day. To keep your skincare routine simple, look for a moisturizer with SPF already in it.

Over exfoliating your skin. Exfoliating your skin helps to remove dead skin cells and reduce discoloration and pigmentation, leaving skin smooth and bright. All of these great benefits make it seem like you should exfoliate every day, right? No! Over exfoliating can cause more harm than good. You should only be scrubbing with an exfoliating product two to three times a week. Any more than that could leave your skin red and irritated rather than glowing and radiant.
